As summer comes to a close, many educators reflect on the opportunities they seized to grow and develop in their roles. I fully embraced various training sessions and professional development opportunities this summer, all aimed at sharpening my teaching and leadership skills.
Participating in the Technology Conference

Attending the Technology Conference was a game-changer. The primary focus was on the Adobe Express for Education suite, which offers innovative features designed specifically for educators to enhance the learning experience.
The conference included hands-on sessions that allowed participants to explore Adobe Express's capabilities. By mastering these tools, I feel better equipped to integrate technology into my lessons. Research shows that students engaged with interactive content are 60% more likely to retain information compared to traditional methods. This not only helps students stay interested, but it also prepares them for a world increasingly shaped by digital media.
Leadership Summit Insights
The leadership summit was another key opportunity to enhance my skills. This event focused on providing educators with strategies to tackle complex challenges. Experienced educators and industry experts led workshops, sharing valuable insights on effective leadership.
Key topics included building trust within school communities, navigating administrative challenges, and empowering staff and students. Engaging with fellow educators allowed me to exchange experiences and collaborate on problem-solving strategies. Armed with new strategies, I feel more confident in my ability to advocate for best practices that promote student success.
Exploring Data Science at the Summer Institute

The Data Science Summer Institute was held at the North Carolina School of Science and Math (NCSSM). It offered a fresh perspective on the intersection of data and education. This program introduced a variety of data science tools widely used in educational settings.
The institute featured workshops that focused on data visualization and analysis. We received an overview of data science at the middle/high-school level, covered the basics of data collection and wrangling, hypothesis testing through simulation, and making predictions from data. Additionally, learned about a variety of tools to use in our classroom, with a focus on using Common Online Data Analysis Platform (CODAP) and spreadsheets.
Integration of Learning
The blend of experiences from the Technology Conference, leadership summit, and Data Science Summer Institute has allowed me to create a comprehensive professional development plan. Each opportunity complemented the others, reinforcing the connection between leadership, technology, and data-driven education.
